Remember this?

Finally made my quilted stitchery from the challenge into a pretty oval box.
It has pleated sides and is fully lined. Looks soft and shabby chic.

Little lesson

If you like portraits, here is a way I make them dimensional with little work.
2 pieces of fabric, and another one with the photo on. 2 pieces of needlepunch backing. Sewing machine with quilting foot on, and feed dogs dropped.

Position picture, one piece of backing and one fabric. A sandwich is formed like a little quilt.
Stitch round and round the portrait but not on it. The shape will start to puff. Now add the second piece of needlepunch and other piece of fabric to the back. Repeat the sewing up and down and around and around. Puffs some more.
I had normal tensions and 1.5 st. length.

Needlepunch is a quilt batting, closely woven and thin like felt.

wooden cafe sign

two pieces of found wood.
I made a swinging cafe sign for the show. It is about 15" and has bead dangles, my painted word and crackle.

Old paper collage

This is for a show this weekend, better hurry me!
Got much to do yet.

This is 10x12" and named 'All about me.'

Guardian angel

I made a painted face and then created an angel.

About 2 feet tall, sits on a bed or hangs on the wall above it.

Pillow boxes and ornaments

I made the pillow boxes to hold the juice lid ornaments for a tree.

velvet and ciggy silk needlecase

made this a while ago, digging in my sewing bag again.

quick needlecase gift

Make this with a piece of old linen and image on front.

Simple trims are best like rickrack for this homey kind of work.

I do put real wool fabric for the pages, stops rust, here in the Islands a problem.
The key to a nice case are the needles, pins etc. inside.
Get the best you can find, I use English needles and pins.
Couple of pearl corsage pins, a nice snap or two, and golden safety pins from Walmart.
There, now go make one or two.

Framed

Here's an idea, copy a door. Take a photo or use a found picture.
I used the house listed previously.
Cut out the center for a picture to be inserted. Make a card or wall art.
I think it would be nice to use the family home.
Here is one you may copy if you like.

speaking of butterflies and round thingys.

wall quilt, eye candy, picture at my friends house, she the recipient of the paper doll below.

Xmas ornys

Made by a small group of friends. Over the years have made hundreds.

Look nice in a big bowl.

Made from foam balls covered with velveteen, sequins and beads inserted with pins.

New journal

This is really a folder,
inside I glued a small size legal pad, put stretch cord around to hold shut.
Meant for shopping lists, random hints and maybe to keep in the car.
I'm sure it could be made prettier.
Just a quick project for the Holidays.

Doll I made as a gift

She is made from card and adorned to fit her 'over the top' image.

I am really just a kid!

Delivered some orders today

Butterflies my sister taught me to make.
These are for a friend and show how they are to be presented as a favor.

Abandon

On my trip into an older area yesterday, I came across a crumbling house. Love the rust and weathered wood so took pictures.

Then I saw this poor little broken person of an ornament just lying there against the basement wall. Oh my! What a saga. Yes I did leave him there.

Here are some of my pictures of the house I call 'Abandon.' Haunted maybe? Whooo!

A nice gift box, think I may keep it.

New treasure pouch

Yards of hand dyed 1" bias silk ribbon appliqued onto the pouch.

More ribbons at the top with lots of beads threaded on. Fun to make.

Another altered book

This is quite a big book I finished recently.
The background photos were so beautiful, hard to cover them up.

Perfumery

Some Parisian bottles I just made. They are tiny, 4" high and created from amber glass.
The box is to mail them in.
Made it from a box from my pantry. Covered with antique papers and topped with a medallion I made from shrink art.

Toku Kainga in NZ

When I spent a couple of years back in NZ I had this sun washed beach cottage.

It was on a bay with an interesting view. I could watch the Ferries sailing by, it was magical.

Before the month ends

I had to post a project for Breast cancer awareness month. Make it pink! Very special cause and dear to my heart.

Little shell pink pouch with an image misted by tulle. Drop lace and pearly beads. See it on Etsy where I will donate sale to the cause.

You are all so talented

Photo on the Devonport wharf in NZ. Love the place with the smashing food market on the weekends.
Trying to hide my blurb a bit.

Tags for holiday gifts

Trying to get a head start on things.

Made the shipping tags for packages. Back says 'to and from.'

I printed black and white images and hand painted them for a romantic vintage look. Two have wings, two have a small shrink plastic token at the top, it is tied on with black wire.

Rummaging around my sewing bag

I came across this scissors keep and 'strawberry'.

It languishes in my bag never used. I will give it away to anyone who asks me for it.
Not the scissors, just the little pouch.

Old shoehorn Ornament

Found some old shoehorns in a box. So painted them pink and started to decorate them for Christmas ornaments.
Have 6 so they will all be different themes. First one here.
