Joan of Arc

I walked through this archway into the square where poor Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.
It is in the Capital of Normandy, Rouen.
Our barge was moored a few meters away on the Seine.
The cross stands on a little mound and marks the spot where history happened.
Nearby is a more contemporary building, a church which is dedicated to her life and memory.
It is an awesome place and left me meditative and quiet. I must read her story again.
The old timbered buildings are very worth visiting, but go in the Fall.
