Little Marie

My petit Marie purse (that I showed earlier,) got a nice makeover.
Put it in my Etsy shop and it has sold.
It was so sweet, boohoo! Anyway we can still look.
Some fabric thingys I am working on.

Just fiddling

I have quite a few projects that need attention.
Put together a collage of some 'bits', fiddling is what I call it.
I like to take a bunch of things that are scattered on my worktable and see what I can do with them.
The old coin purse will get some decoration.
The wine moire' fabric is actually the back of a purse I am completing.
The oval Marie is my try at a new technique.
Now I have to run to swimming master class. aloha

Create Bookmarks
Cut used cardstock into size shown and round corners.Glue on a base of whole used calendar pages.

Add elements from other calendars or ephemera you have around.
Glue stick to hold lightly, for those.
For a Mum, her initial or M for Mother cut from some text
.For a man it is nice to add a sports card theme.
I have to do a Paris card of course.
Ink the edges and for Paris and Mother I added a touch of glitter.
Sew on Plastic next. Old box lids, folder plastic or even film
for transparencies.
To add the grommet ring , punch the plastic to match the first hole and hammer in the ring.
Add ribbons or string or other fibers and sign the back and it is done.
Voila!
Re-cycled Bookmarks
Simple 'how to' for these elegant bookmarks.I made them as a project at our local re-cyling fair and even made a holder to give as a gift presentation.
Holder not shown.
The size is really good, seems large I know, but when you use it you will find it to be the best. Does not get lost in the book.
Covering it with sewn on plastic film, adds the final touch.

Look at the lovely hands here

I think these are beautiful hands wearing my gloves. Do not know who the model is.
The Betty gloves are part of an outfit that I made for the current Belle Armoire magazine.
I was trying to be light hearted and frivolous. Hmmmm! We need it, right?
I did paint the Betty Boops onto silk, and covered the buttons in the other picture.

challenge for this week
From Art Creations Friday Blog, see below button card. The vintage photo of a woman was to be used in some way.
I made a small, 6x4" Vanity card.
It has black and gold striped velour background, vintage wallpaper cutout and metal piece.
I edged the card with gold glitter pen. The words are cut from a piece of bead packaging.

How I make a paper rosette.

Don't think I need to explain this. Pictures should tell the story of how I make them.
Any paper, old dictionary pages, cardstock, music, crepe paper, glue and glitter, are the items I use. Think of other ways to layer for these decorations.
Glitter is a new color from Martha. Called Brownstone, I love it.

Folio made of fabric, shabby chic style.

Folio I made to hold a quilting application. It is for a teaching position at an annual Festival. More later on that.
Birdy pic. is the front cover, pocket is the inside left, and the pompoms are part of the collection of these shabby chic fabrics my daughter gave me. Thanks B.
Folio is large 10x12"
The branch the birdy sits on is a paper bead I made to look like wood.
Fabrics came from Australia but I think were made in Japan.

French Poche'

Made a series of these small rusty silk pouches like I saw being worn in Paris recently.
Seems the small size is easy to run for the Metro without getting tangled in bigger totes.
I did not see too many Parisians shopping, plenty out walking and in cafes with a little bag over the shoulder and on the hips.

Friday challenge for this week
I made a Button card from the picture, added a bit of ribbon, buttons and an old tag. Edged it with deckle scissors and a brown ink pad.

I wanted to try the challenge that I saw on Jan,s blog http://jan-jansjournal.blogspot.com/
So here is my project for this week.
You know I love gypsy images.
This is the challenge blog. Hope you will try it. http://artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com/

French heart project

Cut and adhere to a piece of thick interfacing.
Gather 3 one yard pieces of crepe paper from a party roll is good.
Lay on top of each other.
Gather by hand or machine and sew or glue to back of heart.
I put a nice sticker in the middle to remind me of my vacation.
A gold brad decorates the steeple.
Separate the edges of the crepe paper for a ruffled effect, gently crushing in your hand.
To finish, tie a lavish double bow with 3 yards of rayon binding and a yard of sheer ribbon. Trim ends on diagonal.
Glue to point of heart.
Put a hanger at top made with same ribbon , if needed.
Nice gift on a package, as a pew bow for a wedding, on the wall, on a box or book.
Easy and I think elegant.

Joan of Arc

I walked through this archway into the square where poor Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.
It is in the Capital of Normandy, Rouen.
Our barge was moored a few meters away on the Seine.
The cross stands on a little mound and marks the spot where history happened.
Nearby is a more contemporary building, a church which is dedicated to her life and memory.
It is an awesome place and left me meditative and quiet. I must read her story again.
The old timbered buildings are very worth visiting, but go in the Fall.
