Please pray for my Homeland

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10671049
The gracious city of Christchurch has been hit by an awful earthquake.
My heart is full of sadness for them all in my homeland.

Oh I am sorry. I will be praying for the people there. What a terrible thing for them. Do you have family there? Have you been able to contact them?

Although, you and I have already typed each other, you know I am sending my prayers their way.

Hurricanes and earthquakes in one swoop this weekend. It's about the only time I'm glad I live in the desert.

We woke up to this news yesterday morning NZ time.
We all have that numb feeling - I've got relations in Christchurch too so I'm very worried as we've been told there will be after shocks for several days. It must be very frightening for the families who live in the Christchurch area.
One person is in hospital critical care with severe injuries. Several others are being treated for minor injuries.
The CBD is a mess, as you will have seen on CNN too.

However, our little country is pulling together and all the services are on site with their expertise.
It is the worst one since the Napier earthquake in 1931.

Sadly, there was also a plane crash at Hokitika yesterday killing all 9 people on board.
A very black day for New Zealand.

However we do have people all over the world concerned about us. Out of the blue, I received an email from a lovely American blogging friend. We had recently done a class together so she knew I was a New Zealander! I was very touched at her concern.

It is hard for you Lilla being so far away at a time like this.
Take care
Shane

Yes Lilla, it is terrible. I was born in Christchhurch and lived most of my life a little further south in Dunedin before moving to Australia 11 years ago. Still have friends and relatives there. It must be so scary and devasting for our fellow Kiwis.
