I know we all love cottages, one of my fave motifs and especially when I can embroider them.
Here are two with some interesting techniques.
The flowers beside the woman in the painted cottage are embroidered in the 'air' so to speak.
I do them on solvy and when it is washed away, I have little free-form flowers.
The cottage with daisy flowers cut from trim and then painted.
A lot of french knots in this one.

These are quite exquisite Lilla.
I'm amazed at your 'air' flowers - I'll mention it at our guild tonight!
I'm in love with your thatched cottage and the rambling red roses of french knots - my heart is skipping beats!!

The cottages are beautiful Lilla. The flowers you say are done in the air - curious - you don't have any problem with the silk water staining when you wash away the solvy? What a neat thing to think of. As always, I enjoy my visits to your blog.

No background fabric used when embroidering on 'air' .
Solvy and nothing else. Just solvy in a hoop.
Wash it away and I am left with the flowers.
I adore your cottages and all of your embroidery Miss Lilla. Air flowers...who knew. Happy creating...
They are both gorgeous Lilla!
Hugs,
Robin

Oh, please tell me you've seen the film "Howards End". Your first photo reminds me of the opening scene in that film.
