I have made similar card holders, for years.
They work in paper or fabric.
This year it is burlap.
To make cut rectangle 9x6".
Cut one each linen and burlap.
Fold in half and press crease. Trim off one side on diagonal. Right to crease.
Sew together around all sides and sew on a patch or other embellishment.
Sew around again and catch 12" ribbon on back in middle. (Back tie.)
Sew lace or other trim to the diagonal edge.
Tie a one loop bow with another piece of ribbon and hand sew in place with a button, this goes on the front at the corner.
If you make one I would like to see it.
The girl on holder is made of paper.

What a great idea - it's really cute and looks so vintage - perfect
Burlap is showing up everywhere. Now it is back big time and in colors. Reminds me of the 70's. Love your project. Sunny Summer Smiles...

I love the burlap/lace combination. I know I have lots of lace and there's some burlap somewhere in this house, but will I be able to find it? I have to!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain how you created this wonderful piece.
Lovely Lilla, a fun project!

Here is the one I made. I did not have any burlap so I used a cotton weave. I am not to crazy about the back. I enjoyed this Lilla, thanks so much for the inspiration!

This is a fabulous project Lilla! Thank you so much for sharing. I will have to try and make one. It is gorgeous! I saw the beautiful one Marcie (The Rustic Victorian) made on flickr and followed the link she had to find you! I have enjoyed your gorgeous photos on flickr and am glad to have your blog to enjoy too! I just placed an order in your esty shop and am so excited about having some of your gorgeous creations! Thank you for the tutorial! Love, Paula
Lilla, I have only recently found your blog and YouTube channel. I will miss blog updates from you. I sincerely hope that all is well and that you will return. In the meantime, I so enjoy your video tutorials. I plan to make this charming card holder, and I've already made a couple of the tp roll Tussie mussies. Lots of fun, those. Best wishes...Charlotte
