French for Valentines

I had some antique linen poche bags from France, so I embroidered P for Paris and F for France, upon them.
Included is a red ticking heart, inside each one.
A little treasure for someone special on Feb. 14th.
Will be in my shop.
I do love embroidering letters, see older post re Paris banner with an initial on each panel.

Back in the Islands

My tins are back from publication now!
I called them dented and dramatic, made from vintage tins I altered with paint, beads and French poster prints.
The are for the kitchen to hold spices and packets of thingys.

New Year Give away

Here is a special give-away for the month.
I want to start the New Year in proper fashion.
I made the little bag to hold a wooden cross I decorated simply.
The saint card I found in Italy last year.
Doing a book on that trip right now.

I will draw name from my battered old cap again.

I create some envelope art

Made this video while I was making some mail art.
Thought you may enjoy the process I use, nothing fancy, quick and pretty.
I make these for packaging gifts.
They are little art works that would be interesting framed.

Rag dolls?

Another visit to my past with some of the dolls I used to make.
These from my daughter, she has kept them all these years.
Want to point out the lace I used for the petticoats and over-skirts.
Don't tell Mum, but it's part of her old lace curtain.
I still have a bit of it.
I do love to make rag dolls and maybe we can start a revival.

This is ticking

Also called pillow ticking, French ticking and even mattress ticking.
Either red, brown or blue in the "olden days". Now I think it is in other colors.
I grew up with it on our bed pillows, along with scrim on the walls.
Really old farm life in what would be called today, a cabin.

Getting ready for Valentines' day

I made lots of my ticking birds and hearts to construct a banner for the wall or a doorway.
I had some really old ticking that a daughter gave me, so making lots of new items until it has gone.
See my Etsy shop.

Dress from Provence

Little art dress I made from scrim , old lace and some ticking.
Wooden hanger is decorated with stamped french words.

Just some postcards

A longtime friend, Pat Winter, is starting a new Crazy Quilting magazine and I will be one of the first contributors.
I will let you know when it is ready to order.
I know she will create a great project.
Meantime I have been making quilted postcards and will show you more as I complete them.
They can actually be mailed, but must be hand canceled.
How about some for Valentine's day!

Petit Trianon

Yes it has sold, so quickly I hope it is enjoyed in Canada.
I really enjoyed stitching it. Here are some more pictures.
Swans printed on fabric and embroidered and painted.

Quilted journal

Finished at last, the quilted journal, a memory of Petit Trianon.
I focused on the gardens and envisioned Marie strolling there with her children in happy times.
It is on my Etsy.

Constructing Dream books

I have made the video of the method I use to create an easy Journal.
Not too many pages to complicate one's creative thoughts.
If you watch this until the end, I show you another book using these techniques.
As always I do love to get feedback, it inspires me to make more projects.
